  I spent 13 of my 21 years in the Navy accumulating 2645 flight hours as a Radar Intercept Officer in F-4's and F-14's and I retired as a commander in 1993.  My first wife, Janice, and I raised two children, Jennifer (8/21/73), a graduate of Christopher Newport University who is married and lives in Newport News, Virginia and Brian (9/3/76), who graduated from Old Dominion University and lives in Ft. Lauderdale.
  After retiring from the Navy with a Masters in Education, I began teaching 7th grade science at a middle school in Hampton, Virginia. 
  Janice and I were divorced in September 1998.   I moved from Newport News, VA to Blacksburg, VA (Home of Virginia Tech).  I am still a seventh grade science teacher (my thirteenth year of teaching since I retired from the Navy in 1993) and I married Mickey Pierce, whom I have known since my college days at Virginia Tech, in 2001.
